Internal Insulation
An Old Chapel lovingly refurbished, tastefully restored and much more energy efficient.
Problems arise over time. The lack of adequate heating, water leaks, poor insulation, condensation, rising and penetrating damp and especially drafty doors and windows all make the living environment uncomfortable and very expensive.
Spending money internally until the outside is structurally sound and watertight can prove very costly in the long run.
After Cobalt rendered the outside they were put to work stripping out the lounge. Preparing the walls and replacing existing plaster with specially insulated, vapour check wall boards; building a new perimeter light pelmet, re-forming the decorative wall arches and insulating loft spaces.
Cobalt re-plastered and redecorated walls and ceilings.
Velux windows were introduced complete with remotes and automatic rain sensors, positioned high to improve the flow and distribution of natural light and ventilation.
Deeper, traditional moulded skirting’s were fitted and the existing floor boards were over laid with wide natural oak planks that look and feel fantastic.
The old leaky and drafty conservatory was replaced with an all singing and dancing ‘Glass Room’ that features full slide back and bi folding doors, serving to open the space and invite the outdoors in.
Smart wired; the new lounge sports a fancy new remote wireless, lighting and sound system, all of which is fully programmable to offer different coloured sound to light, changing mood sequences.
The fire place was replaced with a natural stone one and a highly efficient wood burning stove installed as the central focal point of the room and a secondary source of heat.
Let’s face it, there is nothing can substitute the beauty and coziness of a proper wood burning fire..
Additional radiators were not required.
The Client says:
‘This room used to be the coldest in the house and was virtually uninhabitable most of the time. It is now the warmest and the most lived in ‘
